HALCYON
Halcyon, defined as "reminiscent of better times" is Rountrees upcoming single soon to be released. Although This song features full band energy and a feeling of celebration of love, the title of this song profoundly leans upon the subtle sense of sorrow and isolation that still weaves itself through the tack. Rountree claims to have written this song as a dynamic bridge between his sorrowful folk ballads and his summertime rock anthems, leaning onto the mood of falling in love for the short term. With multiple listens the nuance of this tune really does start to shine.
As Jacob Rountree's band develops a strong identity of its own, this underrated Rountree original has been revamped to match the modern day weight class of what Jacob Rountree and the Somethings are fully capable of. In typical Rountree fashion he alone plays the role of the recording , mix and mastering engineer, as well as the producer and performer of several instruments, from keys to synth to percussion to guitar and vocals. With Jake Boggess revamping the intricate rhythm section, Andrew Olivo solidifying the low end, and Zach McKinley soaring in the high frequencies with slide guitar, this new version of Halcyon feels like a Death Cab for Cutie meets Jose Gonzales production in the most perfect marriage.
